Описание к видео 5 Soccer Player Career Skills applied in Real Games #2: Ball Control & Footwork (12-yr old explains)

Despite thousands of YouTube videos showing skills, this educational video shows a kid’s perspective on how 5 basic soccer player career skills (accurate passing, ball control, defense, shooting & finishing, speed and vision) can be put effectively into action in real game scenarios. This is not just a beginner’s “how to play” guide, this video is intended for the serious travel soccer players and club soccer players - girls as well as boys - to advance their soccer game.

If you want to become good in any kind of sports today, you need to start at a young age. I started playing soccer at the age of three. This doesn’t mean you cannot start later, but it helped me understanding the game. There are a lot of good soccer players on my team who started just a few years ago. Most importantly, you need to be determined. Obviously, I don’t know whether I will become a professional player or if I will even play soccer in college. I don’t even know if a professional career in women’s soccer is as desirable as a in men's soccer, but trying every day to become a better version of myself compared to yesterday will help me succeed in life. Never give up and believe in yourself.

I have a German and US passport and currently play in Florida where I believe I can find better soccer education for my age right now. In Germany, talented girls play on boys teams, which obviously helps with physicality and toughness, but in my opinion, is lacking a little bit of the technical and strategic skills.

Several days a week I work on my skills by doing practice drills and I always get mad at myself how little I apply in my game. Many times I try to play it safe and only play what I already know, as it is intimidating to take a risk and lose the ball. In this video series, I wanted to summarize what I have learned and was able to apply in match situations so far - the series is structured in:

#1 Accurate Passing - short pass, through pass, long pass over the defensive line, switching sides.
#2 Ball Control - first-touch, one-touch, dribbling.
#3 Defense - interception, clean tackling, clearances, playing safely out the back.
#4 Shooting & finishing - shooting from inside the box, long distance shots, free-kicks, corners, goals and assists.
#5 Fitness & Vision - Speed, stamina, endurance, always on the move, vision, read the play & understand the game, scanning, decision making.

The drills to master the soccer skills are explained in different videos on this channel.

Gratitudes to my coaches bringing me thus far: Up until 2023, I have practiced with Coach Nigel Lake and Coach Richie McDonald at South Miami United FC (  / smufc  . Whenever I find time, I spend time with with Mentor Eddie Johnson (  / eddie_johnson7  ) at his lab in Orlando (#EJE7). I have also taken some private lessons with Coach Iko de Oliveira for shooting and finishing (https://elitesoccerschool.com/), and Matt Schumer (https://instagram.com/mattschumer_?ig...) for speed and agility. Earlier in my career, I practiced with Coach Kate (https://instagram.com/coach_k8_soccer..., Coach Metodi (https://instagram.com/metodi1948?igsh...) and Coach Miguel (https://instagram.com/soccercoachmigs....

In this episode:
We talk about ball control and footwork. In order to keep possesion, ball control is probably the most important skill in soccer. If you can't control the ball, you can't create chances, you will need to take an extra touch (which wastes valuable time that you don't have in professional soccer), and/or you might lose the ball. Ball control is being able to control a firm pass, interception (   • 5 Soccer Player Career Skills applied in R...  ), or a ball that is in the air, so that you can dribble, pass (   • 5 Soccer Player Career Skills applied in R...  ), or shoot (   • 5 Soccer Player Career Skills applied in R...  ). For a good first-touch, you have to go through the ball, not to the ball, so that your touch isn't too close to you, but also not too far from you. Your first-touch is your first step, which saves time. When shooting or controlling a one-touch, including a wall pass, you have to be 100% aware of your surroundings prior to you getting the ball and you have to be focused entirely on the ball. If you do not see a player that is in a better position than you are, you dribble and take your space. When skilling a player, you need to make sure you stay within the right distance (not too close, but not too far) to maximize your game playing efficiency.
