Welp back from my little hiatus. I’ve been polishing up on this game for a little while the among other things. I now am at a comfortable level of play to post speedruns on here. First choice will be Orbital since he is the first car on the roster, and is one of the best at speedrunning this game, next to Robbie Z himself. Those Teleorbs combined with weapon cycle and auto lobs allow him to stunlock every enemy into an endless loop resulting in guaranteed death. His speed is also fundamental in helping him to set up proximity mine traps and grab weapons extremely quickly. Basically the ultimate utility vehicle.

Construction Yard: 1:40
Could’ve been a bit faster if I had rushed to the crane. I’ve seen Witchdust finish this area a lot faster in his run by rushing the crane and putting on a shield to kill them off spawn, but I just opt for the easier route. Also lost a little bit of time on Crusher by freezing myself and not maximizing my lob damage. Still not a terrible start.

Neon City: 2:35
OK. Had some unfortunate collisions occur with Trashman and Grimm against the wall which cost me a few lobs. Still managed to make it out despite Zombie special spam. Also got the perfect plant on those 3 mines for Moon Buggy, considering you’d usually need 4 to guarantee the kill unless you place them very well.

Road Rage: 2:27.
Nice. Here’s a map where the vortex cars like him and Zombie can shine. If you play that alley strategy correctly, you can eliminate majority of the cars on this stage with great ease. Then you just finish off the stragglers with additional lobs or mine insta kills.

The Bedroom: 2:44
Solid. Here I opt to go through towards the full health area first since that’s the only place on the map with autolobs in it. Can get all your heavy hitting weapons along that path, along with a good supply of freeze remotes. Just gotta be sure to hug the walls and patrol over every health drop to keep them from beelining towards them when they’re low. Also for a tip, always plant that last mine a bit away from the others to guarantee that setup I used on RC car works.

Amazonia: 3:45
That had potential to be a lot better if I didn’t screw up so much on the Axel trap. Got to eliminate all the normal opponents in around 2 minutes by sticking next to the monument and fully utilizing the lightning attack. I panicked a bit when Axel was too close thinking I wouldn’t get to the spot fast enough before he teleported and botched my mine setup. Should’ve just frozen him beforehand.

Oil Rig: 2:59
Tremendous Dub. Getting below 3 minutes on this map is awesome considering all your time saves are dependent on setting up the ai pathing properly. First goal is to either severly weaken or kill your first 3 opponents. You want them all to be dusted by the time the lightning attack is finished. Then you just pick up the stragglers with your remaining weaponry and specials. Then you come opt for either the freeze mine setup near the helipad jump, or the mine strategy. I employed both here for you to get a demonstration on how they work.

The Maze: 3:18
Solid time. Always go unground first to stock up on all your essential weapons for this stage. Then make your way up top as everything else you’ll need to finish this stage will be located their. Really wanted to take out both Calypso and Pizza boy so that everyone else would be on the stage by the time I popped the lightning. Then you just whittle everyone else down to finish them off with it. Always make sure to plant that 4th mine on the Minion setup to ensure he’ll hit the skybox and die.

The Carnival: 2:59
Perfect way to end it. Always get those proximities on the ramp early to keep them from stealing them. Gotta be very careful with Your special placements as weapons are at a premium here, and you can’t afford to go hunting for more outside the start area without losing significant portions of time. I always opt to jump to the top of the tent, as this makes sure the ai pathing won’t wonder away from the mine trap and waste all your time. Trust me I’ve lost several runs to Sweet Tooth derping around before discovering this.

And with that I’ve dipped my toes into speedrunning TM 4. I must say, it’s overall a lot more relaxing as opposed to something like TM2 due to all the extra cheese you have at your disposal and the less chaotic ai. Don’t let the game fool you though. It’s still very easy to get caught in an infinite freeze loop that’s all too familiar to me. Overall, I’m enjoying my first time back on here in over 20 years.
