Taste of Syracuse returns to Clinton Square for the first time since 2019 after the Coronavirus Pandemic put Central New York's largest food festival on pause for nearly three years.

Day one of the two-day bender was filled with pure excitement as thousands of people stuffed their faces with some of Central New York's most popular dishes.

Taste of Syracuse featured over 20 new food vendors, including The Wildcat Sports Pub in Camillus which sold over a few thousand chicken wings after day one.

"It's a different breed, but it's fun and we are having a blast, a lot of people are coming out here and they're happy, which makes us happy," Johnny Fordyce said who works The Wildcat.

Downtown Syracuse's largest food festival wraps up on Saturday night, food vendors say they're grateful to be back in Clinton Square after what has been a hectic couple of years for most local restaurants and businesses in the Central New York area.

"A lot of the food industry took a hit as soon as the pandemic started and this event shows that we are back," Kevin Harrington said, who works at 3-1-Fried.

Other vendors tell CNY Central that seeing Downtown Syracuse "alive" was a breath of fresh air, a moment that many vendors have been waiting for.

"It feels good, it's nice to see everyone come back out and enjoy some food down here, Tim Winn said, who works at Kiki's Authentic Greek Food in Camillus

Taste of Syracuse ends Saturday night at 11 p.m.
