Transforming Vermeer's and Hopper's works into film scenes

Описание к видео Transforming Vermeer's and Hopper's works into film scenes

FILM & PAINTING COURSE. Watch the video on how we transformed Vermeer's and Hopper's paintings into film scenes.

1 DAY PROCESS. INTRO:
We started with a brief introduction to the influence of Vermeer and Hopper's works on the film scene creation process. We set the tone for the narrative by highlighting the connection between classic art and modern filmmaking.

SHOOTING LOCATION:
We checked the filming possibilities, atmosphere, and ambiance of the shooting location to provide the context for the scene's continuity. The same room was chosen to shoot the works of both artists.

VISUAL ELEMENTS AND LIGHTING TECHNIQUES:
The selection of visual elements from the paintings to form the film language for the scenes and editing continuity was intuitive and followed our visual sensitivity.
The cloudy cover helped us to control light and facilitate a seamless blend of natural and artificial sources.
The shooting gear employed, including the ALEXA MINI LF, Cookie S7 full frame set of spherical lenses, and NEO-AO anamorphic sets gave us different creative possibilities. The shooting formats for Vermeer's recreation were classic 4:3 / 1.33:1 and for Hopper - 1. 1.85:1 (spherical) 2. 2.39:1 anamorphic.
We expanded the film language possibilities with sliders, focus pulling, and precise camera movement.
