Thomas in Hot Water

Thomas the Tank Engine doesn't like the water tower at the Junction, but nobody cares. He's a fussy little engine who likes to complain. But maybe his complaints have the kernel of truth...

It's an over-5000 subscriber special. I could have released a video for that, but I decided to finish this instead. Thanks for subscribing. And watching. And reading this. And I mean that sincerely. It's quite humbling that people come to my little storybook land at all.

This was a fun project. I liked doing the crazytalk. I liked having the opportunity to let my inner control freak out and do some voice direction. I really liked casting people in slightly different roles than they usually play (apart from George. He is Thomas, and a very good Thomas too).

It was nice to try and capture that season 1 aesthetic (especially the shed stuff because night scenes are my favourite things ever and this is the best night scene I have ever shot), though I feel I've gone one up by having a rain overlay. Apart from that, Jake has done his usual, superlative job with the music, and me putting a lot of effort into making a soundscape that sounds worse than usual. I'm very proud of my soundscapes, so doing one that sounded authentic took a bit of working out.
