Reverend David Beatty, his wife Jo Ann, and the world
famous Oak Ridge Quartet of Nashville. Tennessee, blend their
voices together on this gospel album to give you some truly fine
singing which testifies that Christ makes a difference in our lives.
God is certainly using Brother Beatty as a song writer. A few
years ago while David was working his way through Lee College,
he borrowed the money to record two of his songs, “I Praise the
Lord” and “It’s Different Now”, to sell in his revivals that he
preached while attending college. To his surprise the record began
to get popular, so he decided to have sheet music printed. He
tried to get several music companies to take the songs and print
them but no one was interested in his music. An editor of an
outstanding publishing firm told Dave upon listening to his record
that “no one will ever sing those songs but you”.
Finally, he decided once again to borrow money to get the
songs printed. The Lord blessed this effort of faith and everyone
began to buy his music. The firm that didn’t believe anyone would
ever buy his music started to purchase it from him in orders of
100 copies at a time. Then, the Faith Music Co. of Atlanta,
Georgia, wanted rights to print the music and after this the States-
men Quartet recorded it. This was followed by almost every major
quartet in the nation and many church groups also. I am sure that
most of you have heard “It's Different Now”, however, David’s
recording is much different as he sings and plays his own unique
way to bring praise to the Lord.
On this album you will hear two brand new songs that David
wrote for this recording session. The songs are entitled. “I’m
Longing for Home”, and “In This Ole Troubled World”.
Special thanks and appreciation go to the Oak Ridge Quartet
and Mr. Smitty Gatlin, manager, who acquired the studio and
musicians for this recording. The quartet donated two days of
their time in making this album possible. Helping David was their
donation to the ministry and a tribute to the real love they have for
gospel singing. We wish also to thank Mr. Joel Gentry and the
Skylight Record Co. for allowing us to use the Oak Ridge talent
on this album.
This album is a must for your collection! David has his own
unique style of piano playing and singing and we know that when
you put your needle on this record you will play it over and
over again. “In this ole troubled world” in which we live I’m sure
that you will be able to say I’m glad — “It’s Different Now”.
