Kohler Engine Valve Adjustment

Описание к видео Kohler Engine Valve Adjustment

How do you adjust the valves on a Kohler Courage engine?
See here in detail how i do it.
If you look in the service manual of the engine, you'll find the clearance specification for the valves:
Intake valve with 0.005 in
Exhaust valve with 0.007 in

After two hundred hours i measured the intake valve with 0.008 in and the exhaust valve with 0.011 in. As you can imagine, a service was really necessary. I am not sure how the clearance was as the mower was new.

The valve covers start leaking oil, and they had a design change on the cover. There is an additional metal washer like piece that needs to be added to guarantee a better seal in the lower area of the gasket.

To be save i added some black stuff to make it seal good. I hope i am able to remove it, when i have to adjust the valves after the next 200 hours.

You'll need a T15 Torx and a metric 10mm wrench to adjust the valves. A metric 10mm nut will do for the valve cover, and an 8 mm nut is needed for the engine cover/air duct.
