(22 Feb 2015) RELAXED SEVENTIES VERSUS ROARING TWENTIES ON TEMPERLEY CATWALK
Relaxed Seventies vibes, Roaring Twenties looks and mannish tailoring brought a sense of cool elegance to Temperley on Sunday (21 FEB 2015) for the label's Autumn/Winter 2015-6 collection.
Animal prints on dense, luxurious fabrics made jackets and full-length skirts have a romantic but rich feel to them, as did the colors: brown, camel, gold, and gray.
These gave way to bright yellow and coral tribal prints on long knit robes and empire-line dresses, topped off with skinny wool scarves.
Designer Alice Temperley paid homage to French fashion courtier Paul Poiret as her inspiration for next season, who famously freed women from corsets.
Perhaps it was this freedom of movement, mannish tailoring and flat slippers which brought a confident yet relaxed feel to the collection.
Roaring Twenties were translated into gold art deco shapes set against sheer black fabrics, topped off with fur shrug jackets.
Model Sophie Dahl made a surprise cameo on the catwalk, modelling a black, double-breasted, floor-length coat while her jazz musician husband Jamie Cullum watched from the front row.
London Fashion Week ends on Tuesday, 24 January, with the fashion pack headed next to Milan.
