What is the whole point of church worship and how should believers go about doing it in a way that’s pleasing to the Lord? Pastor Chad Vegas of Sovereign Grace Church in Bakersfield, CA returns to the AGR studio to discuss this very important topic and how it affected his church’s path to becoming Reformed. He and Pastor Chris Gordon go over the temptation to “juice up” a service to tickle the eyes and ears of the audience, and why this is nothing but a trap set by the devil. Chad speaks from experience as he recalls how he and his own church looked to scripture and began questioning why they were doing things the Bible didn’t ask of them. The two stress the importance of engaging your heart and mind in preparation for worship each Sunday and remind us that there’s nothing more fulfilling or that elevates us more into heaven than when we are coming together for corporate worship!

Chad Vegas is the founding pastor of Sovereign Grace Church. After completing his M.A. in Theology at Talbot, and being the high school pastor at RiverLakes Community Church, Chad was called to plant a church in Bakersfield. He is also the founding board chairman of Radius International, an organization that trains people to plant churches among unreached language groups. His passion is to know Christ and to make him known. He has been married to Teresa since 1994, and they have two children and one grandson.
