Boy, lot of things going on here. First off. there's a signal jammer around here so navigators aren't any help. Once we enter the palace, we're greeted by Vile. sporting a purple ride armor just like the old days. To damage Vile, we have to knock him off the Ride Armor using a break attack, once he's off he'll fight like he normally does. He'll go back onto the Ride Armor after a while, so rinse and repeat the strategy. Once beaten, he's down for good, but on hard mode he will come back in a last ditch effort and take out your character in reserve. So now, you have to go through the rest of the stage, facing down a whole slew of Copy Sigmas with just one character. At the end awaits the real Sigma, who's a little worse for wear, and a little more "demonic". Sigma's 2 main methods of attack are firing rings of energy at you, and teleporting to the top of the screen to slam his giant sword down on you. That last one he can do multiple times in a row, and later on he will release energy in front of him as he lands which is pretty much unavoidable, so you'll have to get behind him. On Hard Mode, he goes into his Overdrive move after just a few hits where he disappears and grabs your character. This triggers a cutscene where your second character makes a triumphant return, showing that Vile's last ditch effort was all for naught. On Normal, when he does this, you just tag out your character like normal and no harm is done. Once he goes into phase 2, he starts using his eye laser to set one of the walls on fire. He'll also start charging that wave of energy his copy did on Gateway, only he doesn't stay still when doing so. It is also unavoidable if he gets it off. But persevere and Sigma goes down. Then comes the plot dump...

So Lumine's alright. Yay. Though he seems to be acting a little too sinister for someone who just got rescued. As it turns out, he had his own plans, and since Sigma's out of the way, he can set those in motion. First order of business is get rid of us. Lumine decides to steal X's gimmick and copies the abilities of the 8 Mavericks we fought. When he changes abilities he does the Overdrive move of said Maverick. Of course, in the process he gains their weakness. If you're familiar with how to avoid all the attacks, this shouldn't be much of an issue. Though things get a little complicated after he uses Burn Rooster's move since those flame pillars last the whole fight. After knocking him down a peg, Lumine goes on to explain the whole bit with Sigma's DNA being in the Copy Chip and the New Generations going Maverick, which is best not left for me to explain.

What I will explain is how to fight Lumine's second form. First off, you can fall off the sides of the platform and die, so watch it. If you do you're booted back to the first form. Lumine always starts off each attack with a barrier around him. You gotta get rid of this barrier first before you can damage him, and it becomes much more resilient as the fight goes on. The first attack you'll see is one where he fires multiple lasers at the ground where you're standing. Zero and Axl are good for dodging this as they can suspend themselves in the air for a good amount of time. When he goes into phase 2, he gains an attack where he'll spread his wings again as the tips glow white. Each one will expel a small laser beam into the air. The beams streak down in sets of two, homing in on the character, so keep dashing back and forth to avoid the barrage as they hit the floor. There's also an attack where he'll create a circular barrier of energy crystals around himself. The yellow bolts will slowly expand out as they rotate. Once the bolts reach the edge of the screen, Lumine will send out another ring as he pulls the first slowly back towards himself, which will do the same. Lastly, there's the attack where he sends crystals off screen that will come back slowly in a pattern that you have to maneuver through forwards and in reverse. There's two variations, one where he sends them straight up, and horizontally, the last one being treated as an Overdrive so you can't damage him during it. After getting low enough on health, Lumine will fly to the top of the screen and trigger a second Overdrive move, the titular "Paradise Lost". Lumine will cover himself with his wings and the screen will begin to grow dark. You have 30 seconds to finish Lumine before the screen goes dark and he kills you, no matter how much health you have left or if both hunters are still alive. __
