I'm sorry to break it to you, but your Puffer Jacket or Parker is just like every piece of clothing that you wear, meaning, it DOES need to be washed. This is not just for looking good, or general hygiene, it is to enable the jacket to be able to actually puff up, so as to provide you with the level of warmth and insulation that it was designed for.

It is not hard to wash your Puffer Jacket but there are a few tips and tricks that you need to know in order to ensure that your expensive Puffer Jacket will last, winter after winter. It is recommended to purchase a detergent-free washing product, that can usually be bought from camping and adventure stores that sell down jackets and sleeping bags. (I did not think it was expensive and one bottle will last for quite a few washes.) You will need to check the pockets and do up all the zips, prior to washing your Puffer Jacket.

After a cool, gentle wash, caution is also required when handling your wet puffer jacket and during the drying process. Initially allow your jacket to dry flat, perhaps on a towel, laid flat on top of a table. Lastly put the Puffer Jacket into the tumble-dryer (at a low heat setting) so that all that down can puff back up and be ready to keep you snuggly and warm again.
