Cut off from time and the jungle below, Roraima inspired Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's book "The Lost World" (1912) about tales of men and dinosaurs. This was the inspiration for Jurassic Park. Today explorers encounter the various animals and extreme wildlife on its route across the Gran Sabana and up the 9000 ft. mountain.
