Step Back in Time: Railways at Work Gala 2024 at the Great Central Railway

Описание к видео Step Back in Time: Railways at Work Gala 2024 at the Great Central Railway

Had a great day spent at the Great Central Railway last week at their Railways at Work Gala (10/08/2024).

The event at Quorn & Woodhouse station yard featured historical reenactments centered around the 1966 World Cup and the Beeching cuts era. Demonstrations of loading and unloading goods were part of the activities, set against the backdrop of this iconic period. Re-enactors, along with police in period uniforms, helped bring the atmosphere of mid-1960s to life, highlighting both the excitement of England's World Cup victory and the impact of the Beeching cuts (33:22) on the railway system.
