Sit back, relax and enjoy as we leave Sydney, traverse the Blue Mountains and Great Dividing Range, through the Central West and into the Outback. The Outback Xplorer is a weekly train service that is scheduled to run between Sydney and Broken Hill on a Monday, returning on Tuesday. This service departs Central Sydney Terminal at 0619 and arrives into Broken Hill at 1910 Central time (or 1940 Eastern Time).

Scheduled Travel Time: 13;21 hours
Actual Travel Time: 13;22 hours

My comments:
There were some slight delays on this journey due to temporary speed restrictions but fortunately, this train was able to make reasonable time. However, the on-time arrival failed by 11 minutes due to extensive speed restrictions between Menindee and Broken Hill.

I recorded facing the North Side assuming that I would be travelling backwards from Orange to Broken Hill. However, I changed sides to ensure that you can still be able to see Lake Menindee from the train.

The trip did not come cheap ($460 for both train tickets and accommodation), plus additional expenses for meals. However, I found it worthwhile for this journey
