Dodge Ram D150 Wheel Fitment

How To and How Not To fit wheels to your D-150.

When I purchased this truck it was missing 75% of its wheels. With it being quite difficult to track down a set of '85-'93 Dodge steel wheels I came up with a simple solution....after 3 failed tries.
Note: While this body style ran from 1981-1993 and a lot of parts are interchangeable before and after, I think in 1985 is when they went to this odd center bore hub size.

The original wheels for my 1989 were 15" x 6.5" with 5x5.5" or 139.7mm bolt pattern, 4 3/4" backspacing and a 3.540 inch or 89.9mm center bore.
The '94-08 Dodge Ram 1500 wheels are 16" x 7" with 5x5.5" or 139.7mm bolt pattern, 5 3/4" backspacing and a 3.06 inch or 77.8mm center bore.

Original tire size was 235/75 15. The next gen Dodge wore 225/75 16.
If you want to make the diameter the same so your speedometer indicates correctly while also keeping the same width, go with 235/70 16.
I might put 255/65 16's on the back just to make them a bit wider.

I hope this helps.
Note: This is the combination that worked for me, and since I'm not an expert I advise you to do your research and take your own measurements to see what your project requires. There is a lot of good info out there, but there is also a lot of bad. You cannot always trust what you find in the forums or on youtube. Good luck!!!
