এর উচ্চতা ৩০৫ ফুট। এটি আমেরিকার সবচেয়ে উঁচু মূর্তি।

ফ্রেঞ্চ ভাস্কর অগাস্টাস বার্থোলডি স্ট্যাচু অব লিবার্টির ডিজাইন করেন।

এটি বানাতে ফ্রান্সের খরচ হয় আড়াই লাখ ডলার।

মূর্তিটিকে যে স্থাপনার ওপর বসাতে হয়েছে তা বানাতেও আমেরিকা খরচ করে ২ লাখ ৭৫ হাজার ডলার।

এই স্থাপনার অনেকটা অংশ বানানো হয় সাধারণ জনগণের পয়সায়।

এই মূর্তি সব সময় কিন্তু স্ট্যাচু অব লিবার্টি নামে পরিচিত ছিল না। ১৯২৪ সাল পর্যন্ত একে লিবার্টি এনলাইটেনিং দ্য ওয়ার্ল্ড নামে ডাকা হতো।

এই মূর্তি বসানোর পর আশপাশের অন্যান্য শহরের গুরুত্ব বৃদ্ধি পায়।

তামা ধাতু দিয়ে এর বাইরের অংশ তৈরি করা হয়। এর ঘনত্ব মাত্র ২.৫ মিলিমিটার।



এ মূর্তির রং সব সময় এমন ছিল না। আসলে এটি অনেকটা মরচে পড়া লোহার মতোই দেখা যেত।

এর অভ্যন্তরীণ কাঠামো ডিজাইন করেন গুস্তাভ আইফেল।

প্রচণ্ড বাতাসে স্ট্যাচুটি কয়েক ইঞ্চি পর্যন্ত দুলতে থাকে।

এর ডানহাতে অর্থাৎ যে হাতটি মশাল ধরে রয়েছে তার ভেতরে ৪২ ফুট লম্বা মই রয়েছে। পরিচর্যার জন্যে এই মই বেয়ে উঠতে হয়।

এই মশালের প্লাটফর্মে দর্শনার্থীদের ওঠা নিষেধ করা হয় ১৯১৬ সাল থেকে।

পরিচর্যার জন্য প্রকৌশলীরা মূর্তিটির ডানপায়ের নিচ দিয়ে প্রবেশ করেন। ওটাই এর প্রবেশদ্বার।

এ মূর্তি যে জুতা পরে রয়েছে তার মাপ ৮৭৯।
