My Notes:
Screenburn
- it is a screen discoloration that affects the screen pixels
- It usually appears when an image stays into the screen for a long time, it burns into the screen.
- At this point, you will see a copy of the image etched on the screen.
- Smartphone screenburn is a natural part og aging process
- The more you use your phone, the more likely the damage will occur
- Did you know that an average person checks their phone 52 times a day?
- Screenburns often occur on OLED or AMOLED screens but this can also happen on LCDs but rarer.

Why screenburns happen
- Since OLED/AMOLED screens emits their light, they are more prone to screenburn
- Blue LED suffers most commonly with this issue because it needs higher current than red and green
- It needs to emit brighter to produce that light or white color on your screen.
- This causes the BLUE LED to degrade over time.
- If you observe properly, screenburn frequently happens with bright colors especially from orange to white.
- Most common screenburns starts around the bottom navigation bars since they are often white
- If you use bright apps such as Facebook, some parts of the UI is stuck in blue and white
- When screenburns starts to kick in, you will notice that even after you left Facebook app, an after image of the app is still somewhat visible on your screen.
- These are often called ghost images
- Screenburns often happen on high saturation screens such as LG's and Samsung.
- Until now, manufacturers does not have the technology that prevents screenburn.
- Only remedies to slow it down such as making bigger pixels or lowering the current that flows through the pixels.

- To test for screenburns, there are apps that can help you with this.

How to prevent Smartphone Screenburn
1) Minimize use of max brightness or never use it at all.
2)
3) Enable dark theme on your phone system Settings
4) If black theme is not available on your phone, try using launcher w/ darkmode instead. I recommend Nova Launcher.
5) If you type a lot in a day, use dark keyboard instead
6) Use black wallpaper or dark wallpaper with minimum to zero bright colors.
7) On iOS 11 and later, there is a dark theme included or install OLEDX app.
8) Install dark icons for your launcher
9) Instead of navigation bar, use gesture mode since Android 9 and later supports this feature. That is if your manufacturer included this on your handset software.
10) Enable dark themes on apps such as Twitter, Instagram, Google Play Store, FB lite (FB app soon),

Final Thoughts:
1) Screenburn is currently irreversible right now.
2) No apps can fix it but you can minimize its appearance
3) By doing the 10 advices, you can both minimize and slow down screenburn effect
4) If the screenburn is severe, consider going to your brand's authorized service center.
5) To avoid screenburn, use dark mode.
