Going back to one of the original D&D clones, Arcanum is both a simplified fantasy RPG as well as a much more advanced game system with its skill system that blurred the classes. A very short-run game with only three official books, it has kept a mystique about it with its mechanics and its old school art. Of note, the system evolved to become the classic RPG Talislanta and has been reprinted several times by various companies just recently.
