Making a 3 Minute Song... in 30 SECONDS!

The making a song in 1 hour challenge... but like, way quicker...

Kidding aside, right when we had an idea to turn this into a competition it seemed obvious to eventually make a song in an absurdly short amount of time. I came up with this chord progression that I thought would be good slowed down and built a song around that. Since I was on a roll I figured to just film this then and it would be a fun thing to post later whenever the song in an hour challenge started to fade, and revealing I've been ahead all along and whatnot is a fun concept. I wrote by performing it over and over then slowing it down to see how it would flow at a much slower speed. Singing the lyrics quickly and articulate was a real challenge. I'm not the best singer to begin with, despite my previous claims about Roomie, so already that's difficult and when your off pitch for a quarter of a second in this performance that turns into over 2 seconds of off pitch singing in the final version. So I practiced this a lot and thankfully during the shoot day I was lucky enough to get it on the first try. What you're hearing in the final version really is that guitar and vocal take, though I did add a bit of bass later by playing single notes on the acoustic and slowing that down to be able to adjust the bass separately in mixing. And then off course added a ridiculous amount of effects to the acoustic guitar an vocal track and there you go! A perfectly tolerable 3 minute song.
