Syria's Assad Torn Between Threat Of Israeli Attack And 'Axis Of Resistance' Alliance With Iran

When over a 100 Israeli jets bombed targets in Iran, the first wave of Israeli pilots ensured to disable air defence and radar systems in Syria. Israel likely anticipated that the Syrian President could use the country’s air defence and radar systems to warn Iran about air attacks. Israeli jets are believed to have flown over Syria and Iraq to strike key targets in neighbouring Iran. However, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s unusual quietness over the spiralling conflict between Iran and Israel has piqued analysts. The Syrian president has been involved in a calculated attempt to steer Syria away from a direct role in the long-standing conflict between Iran and Israel. Some political analysts believe Syria's Assad government is under the most pressure after the Israeli bombardment of its arch-rival, Iran. However, experts say the latest Israeli attacks on Iran could force him to open a new front in the conflict.
