Former deputy prime minister John Anderson labelled the treatment of late-term abortion survivors as “deeply chilling”.

The Senate refused to allow debate on a resolution that all new-born babies, born alive after late-term abortions, be allowed to receive medical treatment or pain-relieving palliative care as a basic human right

“It’s immensely distressing from a human point of view and deeply chilling from a civilisation point of view,” Mr Anderson told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“A baby removed from its mother that’s breathing and has an independent heartbeat is just as much of a human being as much as you and I.

“You can’t sweep it under the carpet.”
