Описание к видео Piano Masterclass | Playing Chords - Voicing, Stabilisation, Arm Weight

Masterclass with pianist Laszlo Gyimesi on the most essential elements of piano technique: scales, arpeggios, double notes, chords and trills. Emphasising on fullest flexibility, relaxed weightiness and adequate control of the arm weight and if necessary, the weight of the whole body.

The most important things when playing chords: preparing the position, complete simultaneity of the key stroke, equality of all parts, freedom of the arm, concentration of the fingers, fifth-finger sense for the upper voice, free drop of the hand, feeling relaxed, completely unconstrained, conscious of the natural weight of the arm from the shoulder to the fingertips. Natural alternation of tenseness and relaxation to maximise endurance.

László Gyimesi was born in Szentes, Hungary. He studied with Peter Solymos and Albert Simon at the Franz Liszt Academy and graduated with „Grand Prix“ in 1971. Further studies with Géza Anda in Zürich, with György Sebök at the Indiana University in Bloomington (USA) and with Stefan Askenase in Bonn. He was awarded prizes at several international piano competitions: Leeds/England, Liszt-Bartók/Budapest, Jose Iturbi/Valencia.
László Gyimesi has given concerts in his native Hungary, USA, Canada, Cuba, Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Romania, Spain and Switzerland and made recordings for Ex Libris and Musikszene Switzerland. He held professorships for piano in Stuttgart and Basel for over three decades.
