OnePlus 8 vs Pro vs Lite | How the new phones stack up

In 2020, OnePlus will launch three new smartphones. As well as the standard OnePlus 8, you'll also have a Pro and Lite model to choose between, all packing a triple-lens camera, solid specs and that OxygenOS UI. According to rumours, that is. So which new OP8 mobile is likely to be best for you, and is the new Lite version going to be a welcome addition?

The OnePlus 8 Pro is the most premium of the trio, offering a 120Hz display, Snapdragon 865 platform, and upgraded camera tech compared with the 7T Pro. Meanwhile the standard phone will sport a 90Hz screen and the same optics, plus performance should be just as strong with that SD865 back in action. That is, if the leaks and rumours are to be believed. Question is, will these mobiles also boast 5G support, and is there a new pinhole screen design?

For me, the most interesting new smartphone to release in 2020 is the OnePlus 8 Lite. This more budget-friendly handset will likely sport the Mediatek Dimensity 1000 platform, which is still 5G ready, plus a more basic camera. Here's hoping the UK asking price comes in around £400, to make it a truly tempting offer.
