【Introduction】In the early 1930s, Lin Siyun returned to China after completing her studies, dreaming of opening a maternity hospital. Upon arriving in Shanghai, she faced the challenges of her father's passing, her brother's debts, her fiancé's betrayal, and the debt collection efforts of Cheng Ao, a gangster lawyer. Despite these challenges, Lin Siyun rose to the occasion and established a high-quality maternity hospital when the Anti-Japanese War broke out. Facing national hatred and family feuds, Lin Siyun and Cheng Ao became fellow Communists. From misunderstandings, Cheng Ao and Lin Siyun became close comrades, weathering the bloody storm together and navigating the dark days before the advent of the new society. In the early 1950s, the hospital was transformed into a garment factory. Lin Siyun's niece, Yi Yi, dreamed of becoming a fashion designer, but her identity as the widow of a Kuomintang officer posed a dual challenge: survival and career. Fortunately, Yi Yi met Wen Pu, an outstanding Party cadre. Amidst the public-private partnership, Yi Yi found her professional identity in the new era and, together, they embarked on a restrained and romantic love story. By the early 1990s, this old Western-style house had become a renowned Shanghai hotel. Yi Yi's granddaughter, Ye Xining, was preparing for a close friend's wedding there when she became embroiled in a conspiracy that left her jobless and, with nothing left, she ventured into business. There, she met Xiang Beichuan, a similarly devastated businessman. Together, they embraced the tide of reform and opening up, experiencing a period of rapid growth.
