Today we've got a fun little project that helped me pick five random winners for a contest I threw out there in our Excel Ninjas Facebook Group (https://www.excelvbaisfun.com/ninja). Out of my top seven images, users voted on their favorite and in this video we create a ‘Random Winner’ selection tool using Excel and the new ExGrid control.

We took all the names from this entire Facebook feed (all of the reactions and all of the votes) and went ahead and threw them into an excel file using ExGrid.

Although this is a little bit advanced for our series on using ExGrid in Excel, we couldn’t help but share this neat little exercise with our Excel community.

We're exploring ExGrid topics such as how to change the SortType (Numerical, Dates, DateTime, String, etc) as well as a secret trick to sorting by Icon images!

This gives added control over being able to sort, filter, group and add image/icon fields. In our case, we use a little Star icon to show which people won a free course from ExcelVbaIsFun.com!
