‘Tech innovation’ exists in an echo chamber.

Despite being a huge part of the economy, regulated industries & regions get the short end of the stick.

US can innovate much faster than EU because they don’t have to comply with any data practices.

But even in the US, most of the innovation is just concentrated in tech.

Because every industry that actually touches the average person is regulated.
- Healthcare
- Food
- Pharma
- Automotive
- Education

And so on.

Insisting on removing regulations to allow for so-called ‘innovation’ misses the fact that every essential tech has to be regulated before it can be deployed at scale.

It’s only smartphones, chatbots, and the thousandth iteration of Uber for dogs that need not be regulated.

For tech to have any impact on our daily lives, it needs to transcend the regulatory barriers.

You have to close the gap between regulated & non-regulated industries/regions.

All that’s needed is:
1. A clear focus on what you want to achieve
2. Patience

For any non-toy use-case of technology, regulations are a matter of when not if.

It’s a good idea to play the long game from the beginning.
