Hello everyone.
This is a video from my 2018 Euro trip.
In this video we are walking in Florence (Firenze), Italy which is considered to be the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. Florence is the capital city of the Tuscany region. It was the centre of medieval European trade and finance. UNESCO declared the Historic Centre of Florence a World Heritage Site in 1982. In this video we will visit Palazzo Pitti or Pitti Palace in Florence.

The Palazzo Pitti was built for the Pitti family in 1457, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi and construction started around 1458 by Luca Pitti, a Florentine banker. The Medici family, specifically Eleanor of Toledo, the Duchess of Florence and wife of Cosimo I de’ Medici, bought the palace in 1549 and became the chief residence of the ruling families of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. In the late 18th century, Napoleon used the palazzo as his a power base. Later, the palazzo also served for a brief period as the principal royal palace of the newly united Italy. The palace and its contents were donated to the Italian people by King Victor Emmanuel III in 1919.
