Until recently I've had a hard time remaining present. I got this from performing comedy and finding the crowds all too much to take. So I would blur my vision, so I wouldn't have to actually see all those faces out there.

I didn't want to engage with the world.

I stared off into space if I was afraid or overwhelmed. I was disengaged, outside of my body and often in my head. Does this sound familiar? Do you zone out if it becomes all too much? Has anyone accused you of possessing the 1000 yard stare?

A teacher of mine in Vancouver Ben Immanuel was the first person to clock this behaviour in me. He suggested I read Patsy Rodenberg's book called The Second Circle. And that's all it took for me to change my behaviour. After years of not being present reading this one book changed everything.
