The Lakers retirement of James Worthy's jersey was a touching halftime ceremony. Becoming just the 6th number to be retired at the Fabulous Forum and just the 3rd of the Showtime Lakers championship teams, Worthy will be forever immortalized along side the greatest in franchise history, indeed NBA history.

James Worthy joins the likes of Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain. Since James Worthy's jersey retirement, Shaquille O'Neal, Jamal Wilkes and Kobe Bryant (twice) have also been added to the all-Lakers team of retired jersey's.

Worthy, who played for the Lakers for 12 seasons, was honored with speeches from Magic Johnson and Jerry West. Chick Hearn was the EMCEE of the fast paced half time ceremony at the Great Western Forum.
