Plot: Set in Old North Kolkata city area, Pashupati and Pravin are inseparable since childhood. Pashupati owns a old single screen theatre 'Ganesh Talkies' which is under threat from a promoter. Both Pashupati and Pravin comes to loggerheads when they learn about their children Saban and Arjun's relationship. However they join hands once again against the promoter under critical social circumstances.
কাহিনি: উত্তর কলকাতার পুরনো শহর এলাকাকে কেন্দ্র করে, পাশুপতি এবং প্রবীণ ছোটবেলা থেকে অবিচ্ছেদ্য। পাশুপতির একটি পুরনো সিঙ্গেল স্ক্রিন সিনেমা হল আছে — ‘গণেশ টকিজ’, যা এক প্রোমোটারের চাপে পড়েছে। সন্তান সাবন ও অর্জুনের সম্পর্কের কথা জানতে পেরে পাশুপতি ও প্রবীণ মুখোমুখি হয়ে যায়। তবে কঠিন সামাজিক পরিস্থিতিতে আবারও তারা একজোট হয় প্রোমোটারের বিরুদ্ধে।
Synopsis: "Ganesh Talkies" is a 2013 Bengali film that tells the story of Pashupati Ghosh, a Bengali man, and Pravin Agarwal, a Marwari man, who are childhood friends living in Old North Kolkata. Pashupati's ancestral business is struggling, and his only possession is a huge mansion that's being eyed by a local promoter, Sharma, who's trying to forcibly vacate the property with the help of a local hoodlum, Keshto.
Pravin, on the other hand, has a successful business manufacturing crackers and owns a cinema hall called Ganesh Talkies, which is almost defunct. His NRI brother, Navin, has returned from the US and secretly plans to sell Ganesh Talkies to Sharma to open a restaurant.
The story takes a turn when Pashupati's daughter, Saban, who's getting married to an NRI named Nicky from Boston, reveals to him that she's actually in love with Pravin's son, Arjun. This revelation creates tension between the two families, and their long-standing friendship begins to fray.
As the conflict escalates, Pashupati and Pravin find themselves on opposite sides, with their communal differences coming to the forefront. However, when faced with the common threat of Sharma's promoter activities, they put aside their differences and join hands to protect their interests.
The movie explores themes of friendship, family, and community, showcasing the complexities of relationships between two families from different cultural backgrounds. With its mix of drama, romance, and comedy, "Ganesh Talkies" is a heartwarming story about the power of true friendship and values that withstand the test of time.
