This is a clip from "Hitchhike: Part I", the first part of the second season premiere of the 1979-93 CBS drama "Knots Landing", which was a spin-off of the 1978-91 drama "Dallas". This episode originally aired on Thursday, November 20, 1980, which was one day before "Dallas" aired the "Who Shot J.R." resolution episode.

There is nothing really remarkable about this particular clip, except the fact that Sid (Don Murray) and Karen (Michele Lee) are pleasantly surprised by the arrival of Abby Cunningham (Donna Mills, who joined the series on this episode and would stay until 1989), Sid's divorcee sister, and her two children Olivia (Tonya Crowe) and Brian.

Abby would morph from a sweet-natured kind human being into the show's deceiving, gold-digging, bed-hopping, home-wrecking manipulative female antagonist. Essentially Abby would become for "Knots Landing", what J.R. Ewing was to "Dallas", and what Alexis Carrington Colby would become for "Dynasty": the show's main source of conflict.
