Rob Schwimmer plays YMA SUMAC on Theremin: ATAYPURA

Always loved this "Hollywood tribal" track from the incomparable Yma Sumac and thought it would be a good theremin song but I had to recreate the backing track which you hear here. The inexplicable part in the middle where I'm gesticulating wildly is actually a crowd singalong/theremime moment but you can't hear the crowd--Shame, they were good and strong too! I first heard Ataypura (when I was a maybe 11) in the 1954 movie "Secret of the Incas" which was shot in Macchu Pichu (first time I ever saw such a place) and featured Yma Sumac as Kori-Tica (kind of a modern day Incan goddess) singing this song.
