The journey of Highlander 2 is a fascinating one. From changing genres to ditch most of the mythology the first film established, Highlander 2, had a hard time proving its necessity. Matters got worse when filming in Argentina during their economic collapse caused the bonding company to take the film hostage, shutting out the filmmakers. The original cut of Highlander 2 was essentially a financial cut that was disowned by everyone involved. Over the years, many cuts were made trying to hone in on the original vision and tone director Russell Mulcahy was aiming for.
