What if climate scientists like #PeterWadhams and #PaulBeckwith were asked to address the COP and taken seriously? It would be a far cry from the deals pasted together at #COP28, which make the oil and gas industries look good, as they agree to fix their leaky pipes, and the meat industry to lessen the methane from cow burps. But measures like these are bandaids that do little to heal the gaping wounds of climate breakdown. Wealthy countries, who have created the problem, propose to contribute insufficient funds to help the rest of the world cope with the damage they have done. Millions are offered where trillions are needed.

100,000 people attended COP28, some flying in private jets, thousands of them representing fossil fuel interests, and some coming to make lucrative deals with other petrostates. Can the COP process be changed so that it really does something? Not in 28 years!
