The journey from Cassettes to CDs to everything digital, Mr Borkung Hrangkhawl a rapper, singer and songwriter share his views and ideas with us about the "Independent music scene in the Northeast". According to his beliefs music is ever-evolving. Digital platforms like youtube and Facebook has helped him as well as other independent artists to keep going and keep pushing their limits. But it wasn't as easy as it sounds because the scene is completely unrecognisable in North East India when compared to mainland India. There were efforts to put northeastern music on the map of the country for that a North East rap Cypher was organised and digitally it was a huge success in North East and outside of it as well. From his own experience, he has shared ways of tackling and solving the problems that arise at the beginning of the journey. The main difficulty that he noticed is that today's youth is more attracted to international artists and mainstream artists. The need for marketing, more and more musical institutions as well as events, and immense support from the people for their local artists was necessary.
