Radian AFTERBURNER + RAMJET Ransom Rest Test for Recoil Reduction

We designed the Radian RAMJET + AFTERBURNER to provide industry leading recoil reduction in a conceal carry platform. At the beginning of this project we came up with six design requirements for a micro compensator:

ONE | It had to be 1/2 in. or less in length so that when mounted on a Glock 19 whole package would fit in a Glock 17 holster.
TWO | Reliable cycling with a stock spring weight even when running 115 grain ammo.
THREE | The ability to quickly remove the compensator for the cleaning of the firearm.
FOUR | A mounting system that's 100% secure without requiring thread locker.
FIVE | Legal for sale in all 50 states.
SIX | A micro compensator that leads the industry in recoil reduction.

The ransom rest was designed, and has been traditionally used, to test the accuracy of handguns. A ransom rest is a mechanical device to eliminate human error and shot to shot inconsistency. We assumed using a ransom rest to measure recoil would be a viable test method but we found two major issues. First, similar to the brakes on your car the clutch of the ransom rest heats up with repeated cycling causing a loss in breaking performance. Second, there's no industry standard for setting the tension to establish the base angle with a stock firearm. The reason this is important is because any deviation in the base angle with a stock ransom rest greatly affects the outcome of the test.

To solve these issues we replaced the clutch with a free rotating bearing to eliminate friction. We also added a constant force spring eliminating the need for a standardized base angle. Additionally, we added a linear axis of motion to account for the slight rearward movement that happens when a person fires a handgun. Using this controlled test method the Radian RAMJET and AFTERBURNER achieve up to 44% recoil reduction in a micro compensator.
