The United States has approved a major $93 million defence sale to India, marking a decisive move to strengthen New Delhi’s homeland security and regional deterrence. The package includes the advanced Javelin Missile System worth $45.7 million and 216 Excalibur tactical projectiles worth $47.1 million. The US State Department says the deal will enhance the strategic partnership with India, especially in the Indo-Pacific where growing instability demands stronger military cooperation. The decision aligns with broader US objectives to support India as a stabilising force amid rising tensions and emerging threats. Earlier this year, the Indian Army also signed a deal for the UK-developed Light Weight Modular Missile (LMM), a next-gen air-defence weapon capable of hitting drones, helicopters, and low-IR aircraft. Together, these acquisitions significantly boost India’s precision-strike and air-defence capabilities.
