This combination of grooves was creating for a song called "Who Am I to Say", for my band Alma Mia. about 10 years ago I decided to change my routine and become an open hand drummer. It has been a long road catching up my left hand strength, but a journey worth making. I love how I can move around the kit and play left hand Timbales with ease using the open handed technique. I first saw this technique used at A Robert Randolph NYC show, his drummer was playing open handed and I instantly was about that style.
