The exciting and often dramatic East Course at The Grange Golf Club re-opened in August 2012 following a complete re-design and re-build by Greg Norman.
Norman won his first professional tournament here in the 1976 West Lakes Classic and his passion and the strategic detail in his work here is evident from the very first hole. A magnificent contoured sloping green with three tiers, a fairway that throws the short approach to the right away from the green and steep run-offs all require negotiation on approach. The run of holes from 3 thru 7 are magnificent and require the golfer to literally weave a path through natural wasteland and re-shaped wetlands and extensive bunker protection that shapes the drive and greenside on approach.
The course has a distinctly links feel... built on sand with magnificent couch fairways and bent grass greens that provide excellent year round playing surfaces and through strategic design elements that encourage links style shot making with most greens having run up areas to promote low running and knock down shots to keep the ball beneath the wind.
A course of great variety in a beautiful setting that will only improve as this new layout grows in. A must play when visiting Adelaide.
