This album feels like a return to source. The last one, Black Light, came at the peak of 15 years on the road. To capture the guitar-meets-machine sound that had developed onstage, we essentially recreated a festival in my house. During the sessions we had two stage trucks and a tour bus parked outside. It was intense, verging on insane. This time around, there was no big masterplan, just me and Tom in a basement, making music we love, often for 24 hours at a time, like it was at the beginning. What emerged is our version of the kind of tunes that have soundtracked 20 years of travels, sunsets and aftershows. When it was done and we listened loud from end to end, a kaleidoscope of images came to mind - looking back from the edge of the horizon.
