Initial "Flu-Like" Symptoms (Days 3–14)
The infection often begins with non-specific symptoms that can be mistaken for other viral illnesses:
Fever and Chills: Usually the first sign, often sudden and high.
Severe Headache: Persistent and may not respond to common pain relievers.
Muscle Pain (Myalgia): General body aches and severe weakness.
Sore Throat and Cough: Initial signs of respiratory involvement.
Vomiting and Nausea: Common gastrointestinal distress.
Progressive and Severe Symptoms
As the virus impacts the lungs and central nervous system, symptoms become life-threatening:
Neurological (Encephalitis):
