Sparks, Nevada originated in 1904 when Southern Pacific Railroad realigned their eastern route from Wadsworth, Nevada. Before this, Sparks was known as East Reno until the town was renamed in honor of Nevada Governor John Sparks.

Marian Louise McIlravy-Kiley purchased the Nevada Hereford Ranch, naming it the Stead Ranch because of her new husband’s name. Kiley’s sons, Croston Stead and William “Bill” Stead changed the name of their childhood home to the Kiley Ranch in 1980.

Kiley Ranch is now a community west of Wingfield Springs. Already an established community, Kiley Ranch still has room to grow as new developments are coming. For a fun afternoon, head to Kiley Ranch Golf Course & Bar for a round of golf or try the challenging footgolf game, followed by a tasty beverage at their full bar.

Just outside the city boundaries of Sparks is Spanish Springs. This community consists of upscale developments like Shadow Ridge, Silver Ridge, Spanish Springs Valley Ranches and Pebble Creek.

If you’re looking for that open expanse and rural lifestyle with the convenience of nearby shopping, check out Palomino Valley. This area still has plenty of prime vacant lots scattered around custom homes and is only 15 minutes away from the comfort and amenities of Sparks.
