Kalis Ilustrisimo Program Counter Ambush Emergency Moves

Why did Tatang Ilustrisimo, a man who had many actual life and death sword fights and was regarded as one of the greatest Filipino Martial Arts exponents ever, teach moves that are extremely difficult to pull off in sparring? Because these moves are for ambushes, not dueling. They are emergency moves used when you are out of position against a sudden, rushing attacker. In this case, efficiency is the name of the game, so you must be able to respond from where you are without repositioning. This is why Ambush Scenario Drilling is one of the most important methods of training in Kalis Ilustrisimo and is emphasized in the Kalis Ilustrisimo program.

Tatang’s Living Art of Kalis Ilustrisimo is a unique Filipino Martial Arts program. It can be used as a study guide or as an instructor certification course for those who want to teach Tatang Ilustrisimo’s fighting method.
