Smile - Nat King Cole (Cover)

"Smile" is based on an instrumental composed by Charlie Chaplin for his 1936 film Modern Times. It was inspired by Puccini's Tosca.
This is one of my favourite songs to sing when busking. It always goes down well in newcastle and often gets people slow dancing in the street!

#NatKingCole recorded the first version with lyrics. It charted in 1954, reaching number 10 on the Billboard charts and number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. It is part of the soundtrack to the 2019 film #joker , starring Joaquin Phoenix.
