DISCLAIMER:
Far from being perfect (the video starts and ends abruptly, has various cuts here and there, and it’s only fifty mins long) this amateur / audience shot video - filmed in my hometown in Italy in 2004 – is yet a rare footage documenting the last years of Climax Blues Band while still including the only original founding member of the band: the historical leader and frontman Colin Cooper. This particular line-up was also the most long-lasting of the band’s various formations, spanning over a period of seventeen years from 1991 to 2008 when Cooper sadly succumbed to cancer at the age of 68.
The repertoire, based mainly on blues classics, marks the band's return to its origins when, with their first two albums both released in 1969 under the name of “Climax Chicago Blues Band”, they established themselves as one of the best british-blues bands of the time, thanks also to the distinctive contribution of Colin Cooper on vocals and saxophone and the style of the unforgettable Peter Haycock on guitar, among the best six-string virtuosos of his generation, who passed away in 2013 at the age of 62. Filling in his footsteps here we have Lester Hunt , a great soloist in his own right, who delights us with a series of solos of great mastery and sensitivity.
