"So, the Turkey oak is covered in LED strips of fairy lights, and it works out at roughly six kilometers of lighting, which here at Kew the trail for Christmas is three kilometers. So, it's double the trail for Christmas in lights, which is incredible."

"It's about three weeks (to set up the lights), and that's with four climbers. So, on and off, depending on our day to day tasks. But we roughly set two to three weeks to this. So, it's a mammoth task, but it's so worth it."

"It's still in leaf, but it is going to lose those leaves in the next few weeks, but it's been a really long autumn, so we're waiting on that first frost to kind of lose our leaves. But when they go, it will change how it looks a little bit. It will only be the lights you see and then I think at the moment, the lights are highlighting the leaves, so it kind of creates a little halo. But when the leaves go, I think you'll really see like the structure that we've picked out with the fairy lights."

"We have an ecology consultant who works alongside us throughout the year. So, every area that we go into in the gardens is always assessed. We are very mindful of our residents here in Kew Gardens, our bats and our badgers, so we would avoid any trees that had any nesting in them. We work around all our badgers' hides, so we take all of that into consideration. And as I said, we're switching to LED. We've moved on to vegetable oil as our fuel here in the gardens and we're using mains power where we can. So yeah, it's embedded in everything that we do here, trying to make us as sustainable as we possibly can."

"Well, here at Christmas at Kew, year on year, it's a very much a multigenerational event. It's become a real family tradition. And we have these lovely big groups of all ages come in and just the joy on their faces. We have everything from Father Christmas toasting marshmallows to these wonderful art installations, but also then just seeing the beauty of the gardens in winter with this beautiful lighting, lighting up the natural architecture of the gardens that surround us, and just seeing it in a very, very different way with all this Christmas magic sprinkled on top."
