This episode of my solo adventure ride in North Sikkim started with a beautiful morning in Lachung as I set out on my fully loaded BMW R1250 GS Adventure toward the legendary Zero Point.

What looked like a normal ride quickly turned into one of the most dangerous experiences of my life when I encountered extreme black ice on the mountain roads. Even powerful 4×4 vehicles were struggling for traction. I managed to pass two obstacles, but the third one stopped me completely.

Despite help from 5–6 fellow riders, no one could even stand properly on the ice, let alone balance a 400kg loaded adventure bike. With only 1.5 km left to the destination, I had to make the toughest decision — turn back. Sometimes nature decides your limits, not you.
