How to Polish Scratched or Faded Interior Trim in your Car

Описание к видео How to Polish Scratched or Faded Interior Trim in your Car

Video tutorial on how to polishing your vehicle's interior trim. Any fine scratches or fading can be removed from the trim, similar to polishing paint on your vehicle. This tutorial was done on a real wood veneer trim with is coated with either a clear coat or varnish that is highly polished. I have found this procedure to also work on plastic polished trim as well. If you are unsure if it works on your vehicle, try it on a small area first to see the results. This particular tutorial was done on a 1997 BMW 540i E39.

Tools/Supplies Needed:
-lint free cloth
-microfiber cloth
-polishing compound
-wax
-bucket of soap and water
-cleaning cloth

Procedure:
-using a bucket of soap and water and a cleaning cloth, ensure the sure is clean before the buffing process
-this will ensure there are no contaminants which can cause other imperfections
-you can use masking tape if you wash to protect the surrounding material, if not be very careful
-applying a small amount of polishing compound, slowly work it into the surface
-apply more when needed
-if scratches are more severe, it may take a little longer to remove them
-my rule is that if you can feel the scratch with your nail, it won't be completely removed, but maybe lightened up
-once satisfied with the polishing compound, you can move onto the next stage
-apply a small amount of wax and work it into the surface
-continue to buff with a microfiber cloth
-work with one trim piece at a time until you're done the whole vehicle
