On May 21st, 2024, Amtrak launched its new Borealis service between Chicago and the Twin Cities. Running as trains 1333 westbound and 1340 eastbound, the route supplements the existing Empire Builder service with better on-time performance and complementary timings at stations served.

With a few Metra trains and a Hiawatha service thrown in the mix, watch as the inaugural Borealis trains roll by Rondout in the late morning and evening.
