The Rentenwiese is officially called Arboretum, after the Latin word for tree - arbor. However, the locals mostly call the park Renti or Rente, after the nearby pension institution. The arboretum is part of the quayside complex inaugurated in 1887 and is now considered a historical garden monument in Zurich.

When you enter the Rentenwiese, one of the largest green spaces in the city of Zurich opens up in front of you, with a direct connection to Lake Zurich. In the middle of the city, you have the opportunity to take Sunday strolls under the mighty, old trees or go jogging by the lake. Picnics are held on the large lawn, balls are kicked, sausages are grilled and after-work beers are drunk. The arboretum is an ideal place to enjoy the sun and take a swim in the adjacent lake. Many people have already recognized that the Rentenwiese is a wonderful place with countless possibilities. Here you will meet a colorful mixture of athletes, large families, young people, neo-hippies, school classes and sun-seekers of all kinds. That is why it is sometimes really difficult to find a place to spread out your beach towel when the weather is nice. And even after sunset there is still a lot going on here - especially at the weekend. The park attracts young people with their jukeboxes, couples try to get a little romantic time together and small groups sing their songs. So if you are looking for peace and quiet and want to read your book in peace or think about something, I would only recommend the arboretum to a limited extent. However, if you enjoy a colorful crowd of different people and are looking for a place where you will never get bored, the Rentenwiese is the right place for you.

The embankment of Lake Zurich is the most party place in Zurich, with the exception of Bahnhofstrasse.
